replacing them on cars with some miles on them (roughly around 60k and up) will yield good results. at the same time, if there's no problem anymore, there's not any real reason to worry about it. i would, however, recommend replacing your fuel lines. those aren't really expected to last forever. i'm not sure if small fuel leaks can cause rough idle, but i do know that vacuum leaks can. is there any chance you fixed one of those at the damper?
